We currently have 22 pupils in P6/7.
Primary 6 – 10 pupils
Primary 7 – 12 pupils
PAIRED READING – On Thursday 30th November P6/7 began their paired reading with a buddy in P1/2. It was a very productive session and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. This is part of the P6/7 Health & Wellbeing studies, teaching skills including empathy and social interaction with younger children.
NSPCC VISIT – On Monday 27th November, the NSPCC visited our school and held two assemblies for P1-P4 and P5-P7. P6/7 were then involved in workshops discussing issues such as neglect, domestic abuse, physical and emotional abuse and sexual abuse. The children held a very mature discussion and enjoyed their session.
MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING – On Friday 29th September P6/7 hosted their annual Macmillan Coffee Morning for the pupils, parents and friends of Gourdon School. There was a wonderful turnout and an enjoyable morning was had by all involved. The P6/7 children sold toys, bric-a-brac,, books and cake and candy. Children were able to have a shot in the lucky dip and try their luck with the chocolate tombola. They also guessed the number of sweeties in a jar and Dougal, the Giant Teddy’s Birthday as well as other fun filled activities. All the children in the school dressed in green in support of the charity. P6/7 worked extremely hard in the planning, preparation and carrying out of activities on the day of the coffee morning. A fantastic total of £1397.58 was raised, another Gourdon School record. Mrs Christie was very proud of her class for their enthusiasm and effort.
MONTROSE AIR HERITAGE CENTRE – The last day of the first term saw P6/7 visit the Air Heritage Centre in Montrose. This visit was topic related and the children were able to participate in a hands on experience at the museum. The pupils tried on war uniforms, sounded the air raid siren, stepped inside a real Anderson shelter and also investigated inside the fire look-out tower. They were able to sit inside replicas of war planes. A busy morning was had by all and the children were able to see artefacts up close rather than merely in a book or on the Internet.
BACK TO THE 70’s – The children enjoyed their trip back through the decades for Gourdon School’s 60th Birthday Celebrations and P6/7 had a brief insight into life in the 1970’s. The music was popular with most of the children and we had some budding John Travolta’s amongst the pupils. The pupils of P6/7 all worked very hard to learn their lines and performed admirably. A lot of fun was had in the build up to their performance and afterwards as the photos show.
